Having joined Lutyens & Rubinstein as their first full time employee in 1996 I’ve been here, in various roles, ever since. Before that I was a bookseller at Waterstone’s on Charing Cross Road (the branch no longer exists, which is not my fault) and before that I did a degree in History of Art at The University of Manchester.
I am the first port of call for all manuscripts sent to the agency. I guard the virtual submissions pile fiercely, and read with all my colleagues in mind. Few things delight me more than falling in love with a manuscript, finding I am not alone, and quietly watching what happens next. The rest of the time I’m probably in a lake, in the woods, or tending a very scruffy allotment.
